Privacy and Security Policy

We have created this statement to demonstrate our firm commitment to your privacy. We do not collect personally identifying information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary. This policy is your guide to how we will handle information we learn about you from your visit to our website.

Security and Online Donations

You can make credit card donations on Accion's website in confidence with any browser that supports the "https" security protocol. Our site is tested quarterly by Security Metrics to ensure that our high security standards are maintained. When you are connected to our secure server, we can send and receive private information across the public Internet. Your name, address and credit card number are encrypted (scrambled) using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) specification. This encryption is performed on your computer before your information is sent over the Internet. Once your data reaches the secure server, it is unencrypted and the information is processed. This and other technologies are utilized to help ensure that your donation information cannot be intercepted while in transit on the Internet and that it reaches its destination in a timely and secure manner.

If you have any questions regarding the security of your credit card donation online, please email at or call us at 617-625-7080.

Information Provided by You

We directly collect any personal information submitted by you through our website when you submit an online form, register for an event, make a donation, sign up for a mailing list or participate in the recruitment process for employment or volunteer opportunities.

We want to be very clear: we will not obtain personal information about you when you visit our site, unless you choose to provide such information to us. Providing such information is strictly voluntary.

Except as described below, Accion will not disclose personally identifiable information, including but not limited to name, phone, fax number, amount of gift, financial and tax information to third parties unless Accion has permission or is required by law.

Accion will never rent, trade or sell a donor’s e-mail address for commercial purposes. However, Accion may agree with other reputable, charitable organizations to exchange a donor’s contact information in order to write via postal mail or e-mail to some of each other’s supporters, for the mutual benefit of both organizations. If a donor prefers not to have his/her name and contact information used in this manner, he/she can send a request to the Resource Development department via e-mail to or by phone at (617) 625-7080, extension 3.
